Porsche 906

The Carrera 6 was Ferdinand Pietch's answer to the Ferrari's Dino in 1966. Designed and developed by Hans Metzger's team, it quickly proved difficult to beat in the 2000 cc category of the World Sportscar Championship. 906's finished three cars ahead of the Ferrari's at the Monza 1000 kms in April and won the Targa Florio outright in May

This car is chassis 906-129 and is the back up 906 sponsored by Porsche of Great Britain (Hence the UK registration and British Racing Green livery) in the 1966 WSC Championship. The lead car (001) was driven by Mike de Udy with  Porsche factory support provided to the effort and that car raced at the Targa Florio, Mugello, Nurburgring, Silverstone and Kyalami to name but a few. Mike d'Udy later purchased 129 in 1967 and drove it with colin davis and Roy Pik.
